General Info
This is an uncommon guava species from southern Brazil. It gets its scientific name “robustum” because it is quite a robust and hardy tree. The fruits are quite large and reportedly tasty. This species is little known outside of Brazil. In our experience, it has been one of the fastest grown guava species and we are excited to grow this one in the ground!
Size
Can grow to 45’, but can also be maintained at a much smaller height with pruning.
Growing Conditions
Grows in full sun and is drought, heat, and cold tolerant.
Taste
The flavor is supposedly sweet and tart, with a blend of tropical fruits. Those who taste it report that they enjoy it.

Unknown season in Florida.
Cold Tolerance
Said to be hardy down to 26 or 27F.
Propagation
Propagation is by seeds. Perhaps air-layers are possible like with other guava species.
