A tree native to Central and South America, blue grape is a relatively unknown tree that deserves more recognition and cultivation. Itβs aesthetic value alone is enough reason to grow this tree, while its fruits are on par with the best jaboticabas.
Size
Can grow to 30β but very slowly.
Growing Conditions
Needs full sun to grow. It is not particular about soils like other jaboticaba types can be, tolerating a range of pH. They prefer a lot of water, especially during bloom and fruit development.
Years to Fruit
Can flower in 3-6 years, but it could take a few additional years to set fruits, so expect 5-8 years to fruit from seed.
Taste
Fruits have a unique and delicious taste. The skin is thick and not eaten.
