Grafted Grimal Jaboticaba
These plants are the result of grafting Grimal jaboticaba scions onto ‘sabara’ jaboticaba rootstocks. The rootstocks are grown in 1 gallon pots.
Note: Grafted trees retain the named variety’s genetics. Any growth from below the graft union will not and should be removed.
Note: Grafted trees retain the named variety’s genetics. In this case, ‘sabara’ jaboticaba will, in time, fruit below the graft union, allowing for 2 varieties to fruit on the same tree. This is really only possible with jaboticaba since they fruit directly on the main trunks and branches.

General Info
Mature ‘Grimal’ jaboticaba scions were used to graft these plants. ‘Grimal’ is an unknown plinia species that fruits relatively quickly. It is widely considered one of the tastiest of the jaboticaba fruits.
Size
20’+ but it is slow-growing
Growing Conditions
This ‘Grimal’ is grafted on ‘sabara’ rootstock and will therefore perform like ‘sabara’ jaboticaba would. Plants like lots of water and can be grown in partial-shade. Plants can be kept in partial-shade or moved to full sun once they read about 3’ tall.
Years to Fruit
6+ Years from seed, but this grafted one should fruit much quicker. ‘Grimal’ is a precocious variety of jaboticaba.
Taste
Considered by many to be one of the best tasting jaboticabas. It’s said to have a concord grape flavor and a more gelatinous flavor than most other jaboticabas.
Climate
Sub-Tropical
Cold Tolerance
Cold tolerant to the high twenties at least.
Propagation
Seeds or grafting.
Source
Grafted from Real Sweet Farms mother tree.
