Propagation
Fruit trees are propagated in the following ways: grafting, air-layers, cuttings, and seeds. Its helpful to know which trees should be cloned (grafting, air-layering or cutting) and which ones can be grown from seed so that you are buying and propagating trees in the best way possible. Below is a list which shows the preferred method in which trees are commonly propagated. Note some may be commonly grafted or grown from seed.
Grafting:
mango, avocado, all plinia species, starfruit, canistel, black sapote, sugar apples
Air-Layers:
Longan, Lychee, Guava
Cuttings:
Hog plum, strawberry tree (muntingia calabura)
Seeds:
some plinia species (some should be grafted), all eugenia species (some may be grafted), sugar apples, ilama, papaya
